JEFH organized and conducted a sensitization event within the community of a District called Bolari in Gombe State. The Honorable Commissioner of Environment Haj. Sa’adatu Mustapha with her entourage and the District Head Late Alh. Garba Abubakar Bolari received the delegation amidst hundreds of people from the community.
On the occasion, JEHF CEO Ms. Kareen F. Mohammed made a presentation on the rationale of the event, which is mainly to facilitate the uptake of environmental sanitization and waste management control signifying the importance of sanitation as it relates to their health. She strongly emphasized that with proper sanitation the community can avoid deadly infections i.e. malaria, cholera, typhoid, and many other environmentally transmissible infections.
During the event, the Honourable Commissioner of Environment made her speech retracting the JEPH CEO’s assentation and urged the community leaders to guide and direct sanitations to their wards beginning from their respective households.
The District Head of Bolari in Gombe State once again welcomed the delegation and thanked JEPH for choosing his district to conduct this August event which he stressed the importance of the climate change hot topic that is on-going in the world today. He also indicated his happiness that from now on his community would look much better and at the same time much healthier.
The CEO of JEFH physically demonstrated simple procedures of waste management and refuse disposal which was fully supported by the Honourable Commissioner and the District Head while many of those present were further enlightened as they watched the procedures. Finally, packages of the waste disposal polythene bags were handed over to the District Head as samples of what should be used to dispose of other garbage from the households or from around the household dues properly.
