About JEHF

JABBI Environmental and Health Foundation (JEHF) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) established in 2011 to sensitize and collaborate with the Federal Government of Nigeria and her Citizenry in areas of the nation’s challenging environmental and health issues. Considering this, it is our desire and responsibility to channel effective tools towards environmental and sustainable health processes. This will be accomplished by encouraging stakeholders to solidarize and actively work to develop a sustainable environment and healthy system, which we believe will assist in harnessing the aggregate environmental potential in Nigeria.

Since its inception in 2011, JEHF has successfully performed research on Nigeria’s Environmental and Health Sectors, the evident result of which has provided a framework for its work on the development of health and sustainable environment agenda at the local, national and international levels. JEHF invests in continuous research on environmental and health issues by partnering with world class scholars for first hand technology transfer in the environment. With a network of philanthropists and top experts on its board, it guarantees a deepening of its engagement with Nigerian stakeholders.

JEHF recognizes the positive aspect and impact of a well-planned and managed environment, in the life and growth of a nation and its citizens, its absence has gravely affected Nigeria both in its standing in the comity of nations and the growth and health of its citizens. Our core competence in methodological advocacy for environmental sustainability management is a tool to reversing the existing and emerging environmental and health problems as established in the MDGs goals 7 updated to the SDG GOALS 13, 14 &15. These concerns have become a prominent component of our focus, and we are favourably poised to enlist proactive measures to partner and assist the Nigerian Government on environmental challenges. We are enabled particularly, to channel every disposable resource towards the effective management of these challenges. If these challenges are not proactively tackled, holistic National Development could be gravely endangered.

Core Thematic Area

Environment

The state of the environment is critical to Nigeria’s economic and social development, including the well-being of the citizenry; therefore, developing and sustaining the environment should be of vital interest to all Nigerians. Environmental disasters are mostly enhanced by various issues such as human activities, demographics (population and migration), socio-economics (market growth, urbanization, industrialization), and technological advancement (application of technology to agriculture and industries). These key environmental issues can be broadly captured in terms of Land degradation, Pollution (Air, Water, and Land), Deforestation, Desertification, Municipal Waste, and others.

In line with the preceding, JEHF’s areas of environmental interest are Municipal Waste Management, Afforestation/Tree Planting, Pollution Reduction, and Erosion Control, amongst others. Our geared resources are fully channeled towards alleviating the negative effects of human unsanitary activities, especially the adverse effects of industrial emissions on the environment. It is no hidden secret that our health depends on a sustainable and enabling environment for us all to thrive.
